Facebook has respected a Manipuri man for finding a WhatsApp bug that disregarded the protection of a customer. Zonel Sougaijam, a 22-year-old engineering graduate, said that the social media networking monster granted $5,000 to him and furthermore included him in the ‘Facebook hall of the fame 2019’, for finding the WhatsApp bug. Sougaijam’s name is at present at the sixteenth position in a rundown of 94 individuals in the ‘Facebook hall of fame” for the year 2109.
During a voice call through WhatsApp, the bug used to enable the caller to upgrade it to a video call without the authorisation and learning of the receiver. The caller was then ready to perceive what the other individual was doing, damaging the protection of the receiver,” Sougaijam told PTI. In the wake of finding the bug, Sougaijam stated, he had detailed the issue to the Bug Abundance Program of the Facebook, which manages infringement of protection matters, in Spring.
Sougaijam said his report was acknowledged by the Facebook Security group the following day and its specialized office fixed the bug inside 15-20 days.
“In the wake of investigating this issue, we have chosen to grant you an abundance of $5,000,” Facebook said in an email sent to Sougaijam. The man said he discovered his name in the Facebook ‘ Hall of the fame’ page this month.
